Interested About The History And Background Of Ultimate Frisbee?

People have been enjoying the game of ultimate frisbee since around 1967. It was started on a university campus while a group of students were hanging out. Frisbee was the rage at the time and there were lots of individuals into tossing the disc around, but these college students took it some steps further in order to not only make it more entertaining for themselves, but to make it more competitive as well. One of these students named Joel Silver transferred to another university in Lafayette in 1970. He introduced the pastime to the new friends he made at this campus as well.

In 1972, the sport started being played between different colleges. People truy loved the game of Ultimate Frisbee and although there were only a few teams in those first years, the thrill of the sport spread and more teams developed. As a result of this rapid growth, there were 20 teams in competition against each other by the year 1975. Only 4 years later it had spread so far that the teams had to be split up regionally so that local teams could compete. The best tems would be allowed at the end to compete to see who was the best team of  the year.

College kids were not the only ones who got to enjoy the pastime though. By 1976 there were clubs all over the place, especially warm areas such as California and Florida. The beaches became a favorite place for individuals to not only enjoy the pastime and competition, but the weather as well. These games came to be very popular among spectators too as it was very competitive and they loved to unearth out who would come out on top.

In the year 1980 the Ultimate Players Association was put together. They recognized the different teams that wanted to take part in ultimate Frisbee. Official ultimate frisbee rules were also set up by this organization by which were implemented by all of the teams and games hosted by them. The winners from these regional games would move on to the final round. Each year one team become recognized as the national champion by the Ultimate Players Association.

Ultimate Frisbee these days can be found all over the world being played in these types of competitions. The greatest popularity of the sport can still be found at the university level. There are also plenty of ultimate Frisbee clubs that take part in it as well. As a form of physical fitness, the sport is being intoroduced into P.E. classes in many different grade schools. This seems to really fuel an interest in some students. These kids have a tendency to either go on and play for college teams, or move into club sports as they age.
