Tax Professionals and You
Someone with know-how and experience to guide you with your finances is known as a tax professional. They may be tax lawyers, CPAs, or enrolled agents.
Spot the Difference
Attorneys specializing in complex tax, estate matters, and tax return preparation, and IRS dispute resolution are tax attorneys. They must have a law degree or be certified as a tax law specialist.
Accountants who have university degrees and experiences in CPA companies make CPAs. Audit work, accounting, and filing tax returns are part of their responsibilities. They're licensed and monitored in all states. It'll rely on the training and experience the CPA has received to whether they'll have the ability to deal with the IRS comfortably.
If you don't need licensed representation in tax court, enrolled agents can assist you. They are, however, licensed to practice with the IRS as full-time tax preparers and advisors. They at least passed an IRS examination, or worked 5 or more years with the IRS.
Superb tax professionals must have experience in dealing with the IRS and IRS collections, as well as the resolution of tax debts. They don't only know about IRS laws, but also kept updated with tax law ammendments.
